Google Earth Shea Terrace
It’s easy to take a tour of Shea Terrace if you have Google Earth installed on your computer. Merely type “244 Constitution Ave., 23704” in the “Fly to” tab and hit “Enter.” This address is the approximate center of the neighborhood.
If you do not have Google Earth, it is a free download available at http://earth.google.com/. Version 5.0 provides a virtual tour through the camera icons along the streets. Clicking on these icons allows the viewer a 360 degree view of the neighborhood at that address. The “tourist” can move from place to place by clicking on successive “cameras” to “walk” through Shea Terrace.

The Portsmouth Humane Society

This is Foghat, a wonderful pit bull terrier up for adoption. He is up for adoption from the Portsmouth Humane Society. With proper love and training and without abuse, pit bulls are wonderful, loyal, protective, and loving family dogs.
Idlewood Resident of Shea Terrace, Katie Cross, is passionate about the Portsmouth Humane Society. Katie is a PHS "foster parent." She takes in PHS animals who aren't quite ready for adoption due to medical and other needs. Fostered PHS animal companions get ready for permanent adoption in the foster home; receiving medical attention or learning valuable behaviorial and socialization skills. Fostering can be an extremely rewarding experience for a family or single adult or a wonderful chance for an interested young person to learn more about the veterinary field, with help and approval from Mom and Dad.
For more fostering information or to volunteer, call 397-6004 or email PHS at info@portsmouthhumanesociety.org Visit them on the web at www.portsmouthhumanesociety.org
.
PHS is sponsoring CAUSE FOR PAWS, a Dog Walk and Festival in Olde Towne from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 pm on April 25. Registration starts at 9:00 a.m., the walk begins at 10:00. This is a one-mile dog and family-friendly experience. Get sponsored and walk your dog or walk in memory of a beloved pet. Visit the website at http://phscause4pause.org/ for more information or to download a registration form and email the completed form to phscause4paws@yahoo.com.
PHS is NOT part of Portsmouth city government. Times are hard for humans these days and, as usual, animals often feel the brunt of human difficulties. Animal companions are experts in human behavior, full of unconditional love, and have been demonstrated by medical research to reduce blood pressure and help older individuals live longer. They deserve to be treated well.
Sadly, many good pet families are having to part from their beloved pets due to economic circumstances. Other wonderful animals are simply being discarded and sometimes abused by humans who need to live up to the better standards many animals demonstrate to them.
Don't buy an animal companion. Choose a shelter dog, cat, or other animal who will be your beloved companion. Donate to PHS either by direct contribution, by participating in the Cause4Paws Walk or via an in-kind donation of food, bedding, or through your volunteer hours. You will see your thanks in the eyes of a PHS canine or feline companion.
