We hear you loud and clear – and frankly, I think many on the City Council and residents of Portsmouth agree with you. Sometimes, what looks good on paper to save money (and provide better street cleaning services) doesn’t pan out in reality. The good news is – that in this horrible economy, when our neighbor cities are looking at furloughs, layoffs, tax increases, and the like – the biggest complaints I’ve heard about the Manager’s budget proposal are about bulk pickup strategies. I can assure you that this City Council isn’t finished with this budget – in fact we just begin discussions tonight!
